PETROYUAN, CHINA’s strategy to DEFEAT the DOLLAR - VisualPolitik EN

14:12
The rivalry between China and the United States is peaking: the trade war, the struggle for dominance of the Pacific, for the control of Africa and the new silk route. and, now, this clashis reaching one of the great pillars of the North American economy: the dominance of the US dollar. Even though China is already the second world power, the second largest economy and the largest exporter in the world, its currency, the Yuan doesn’t really have any global clout. But now Beijing wants to change that situation and make the Yuan a global reference currency. To do this, they want to promote what is already known as the Petroyuan, they want oil to be largely commercialized in Yuan. How? What would this change entail? What intentions does the Chinese government have and what does it want to do with the Yuan? Is the dominance of the dollar really in danger? We’ll discuss these and other questions in this video. Why is TEXAS so SUCCESSFUL? - VisualPolitik EN

08:31
Since the beginning of the financial crisis in December 2007, Texas, which represents around 8% of the U.S. population, has been responsible for one out of every four new jobs created in the country. Having said this, it is also no surprise that more and more people consider Texas as the true economic driver of the U.S. And even though the economy in Texas is suffering from the fall in oil prices, very few people believe that this state won’t keep its lead thanks to its increasingly diversified economy. So, you might be wondering now: What exactly is so special about Texas? We’ll tell you all about it in this video. Did you enjoy our video? Which Countries are TAKING OFF in AFRICA? - VisualPolitik EN

Since the start of the 21st Century, Africa has experienced a significant boost, especially the poorest countries on the continent. With the exception of South Africa, the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa achieved annual growth rates of 6.2%. The SPACE MINING EMPIRE? The case for LUXEMBOURG - VisualPolitik EN

17:40
The space race is back. Companies like SpaceX or Virgin Galactic have given a new push to the space exploration. But there is more than this: outside of Earth there are lots of natural resources to be exploited. Some asteroids are nothing but flying piles of minerals, water or even natural gas. Both Japan and America have already sent proves to the space in order to retrieve some samples of materials. But… what legislation would cover the space mining industry? What would happen if two companies have a corporate conflict on an asteroid? So far, the country with the most advance legislation on this matter is… Luxembourg! This small country has already a cluster of space mining companies. They are completely determined to lead this brand new industry… but how does this legislation work? Can Luxembourg become a space mining empire? We will answer all of this questions on this video. Macau is an autonomous region on the south coast of China, across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong. A Portuguese territory until 1999, it reflects a mix of cultural influences. The FALKLANDS, how is it getting RICH? - VisualPolitik EN

11:57
Can you name the richest autonomous territory in Latin America? Many may think of Puerto Rico, Panama or Chile, however, the wealthiest territory in the entire region is The Falkland Islands. We’re talking about an archipelago that has just over 3,000 inhabitants, and which is practically isolated from the rest of the continent. Despite this, the Falklands are about to become one of the richest and most prosperous places on the planet. This is something that isn’t only extraordinary in itself, but which leads us to consider that perhaps the time has come for Argentina to prioritize business over sovereignty. The Falklands can become a business success story. Do you want to know what’s happening in the Falklands? Do you want to know what drives their economy? What are the keys to their success? How is ETHIOPIA Escaping POVERTY? - VisualPolitik EN

11:26
Ethiopia has an image problem. For years, this gigantic country, the second most populated in all of Africa with almost 100 million inhabitants, was synonymous with extreme poverty, hunger, disease, wars... in short.... true misery. However, everything began to change in Ethiopia in the new century. Even though Ethiopia remains a very poor country, even under African standards, during the last decade this country has become one of the fastest growing economies, not only in Africa but in the entire planet. However, as Ethiopia was beginning to live an economic takeoff, it also became one of the countries with the least liberties and a model of censorship and repression. However now, with a new Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed and a new government... the country’s course has completely changed course. Will Ethiopia become the great African power? How Did ARGENTINA'S Long CRISIS Begin? - VisualPolitik EN

14:31
It’s widely known: Argentina isn’t going through its best moment. In recent years this country has become a synonym of crisis, problems and all kinds of economic calamities. The process that Argentina has undergone is unique, it arrived at the XX century struggling to occupy the first position among the richest countries on the planet, and today, it’s struggling to halt poverty to someday reach the developed country status. Throughout this entire process, a political approach, which is as popular as it’s difficult to understand, has had an almost absolute influence: Peronism. And this is because in the last 70 years, Juan Domingo Perón, a Lieutenant Colonel who became President of Argentina, has had an enormous influence on the country’s politics. So great, that it’s difficult to determine if there’s a politician in Argentina who isn’t Peronist. Now, what exactly is Peronism? How did it come about? What impact has it really had on the country? How has it influenced Argentina? We’ll tell you all about it in this video. * When making this video, we had the invaluable help of the Argentine historian, Alejandro Gómez, Professor of the CEMA University and Visiting Professor in the UFM. A change is reaching the most unprotected region in the world, sub-Saharan Africa. We already talked about the African lions, and paid special attention to cases like Rwanda. Lately, we hear a lot if news about corruption, urban violence and political crisis in Brazil. Nonetheless, there is another important characteristic of Brazil that is not so much covered by media: their relatively high cost of living. Brazil is, by far, the most expensive country in South America. But their salaries are not that high. In fact, other countries in the region have way better wages. Brazilians have even a term to define this discrepancy. They call it “custo brazil”. It is the price you have to pay for living in the land of samba and carnival. Is EUROPE ending PROTECTIONISM in AGRICULTURE? - VisualPolitik EN

15:37
Despite living in a globalizad economy, where international trade is the norm and most of the products we use daily are manufactured abroad, agriculture is the still an island of protectionism. Farms are extremely protected all over the world. Is not easy to find a country that has no tariffs, subsidies or quotas for their Primary sector. In Europe, the Common Agricultural Policy –also known as CAP—means over 72 billion USD to the European budget. But the Brexit has become a turning point to this. Since Great Britain was one of the biggest net contributor to CAP, Brussels must cut a lot of those subsidies and, gradually, starting a liberalization. Can TRUMP make EUROPE follow HIM? - VisualPolitik EN

European Union does not want to follow the Iran sanctions passed by America. Nonetheless, Donald Trump wants to force European companies to cut their relationships with the Islamic Republic… How is this possible? How can a country like America impose their laws in other sovereign countries? This is a legal duel where national sovereignty and economic interest are at stake. Brussels has already passed a package of policies to shield against Washington strikes. But it is not clear it is going to work at all. Eight months after the historic Singapore summit, the president of the United States, Donald Trump and the North Korea leader, Kim Jong-Un, saw each other again. This time in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Expectations for this summit indicated that, this time, a concrete agreement would be reached with deadlines, goals and objectives. However, that didn’t happen. The media have claimed that the summit was a complete failure, but on VisualPolitik we believe that there are reasons to believe this isn’t entirely correct. In this video, we’ll explain why we believe that the Hanoi Summit wasn’t a complete failure, the true reason why Vietnam was chosen as the host country and how the negotiations are actually evolving. Legalizing Marijuana, a Good Idea? - VisualPolitik EN

Almost 50 years ago, in 1969, the then US President, Richard Nixon, announced and launched the so-called "War on Drugs"; a hard-line strategy that aimed to pursue and punish the production, distribution and consumption of substances considered as prohibited drugs. Since then, dear viewers, even though Washington has used all its might, this hard-line strategy has resulted in a resounding failure... both inside and out of home. But a new strategy is being launched in the United States... and so far their results seem quite promising. Have you heard about the marijuana industry? The US’s other Debt Crisis - VisualPolitik EN

The US economy is going through a fabulous moment. After 10 years of uninterrupted economic growth, the great American engine is working at full speed: industrial production, the SP 500 and exports are at record highs while unemployment is at its lowest level in 20 years. However, the US economy has another face of which we’ve already talked about here in VisualPolitik: the public debt and the federal government deficit are out of control. Why do BANKS like BLOCKCHAIN? - VisualPolitik EN

Many talk about a cryptocurrency revolution to come. Bitcoin, Ethereum or Ripple are some of the best-known cryptocurrencies out there. According to their supporters, the technology behind this, Blockchain, is meant to unleash the ultimate revolution to end with Governments and banks. For others this is nothing but a hype. The reality is many institutional investors and traditional banks are betting on blockchain technology. Some industry behemoths like Barclays are starting to offer crytocurrency-based services to their clients. So what is Blockchain all about? What is it used for? Why is CHINA betting on NUCLEAR POWER? - VisualPolitik EN

After the Fukushima incident, we might say nuclear power is about to disappear from the World. Many countries like Germany have closed their nuclear reactors. Nonetheless, Asia is renovating is bet on nuclear power and, more precisely, China is leading a nuclear revolution. The economic growth means a huge growth on the power consumption and this means they need more and more energy sources, other than the traditional coal. But… they are going way beyond installing reactors… they are also building their own models. How? Is ITALY worse off with the EURO? - VisualPolitik EN

14:25
Italy is the only country, alongside with Greece, that is poorer now than before having the EURO as their official currency. In fact, their economy has been stagnated for two decades and they are one of the biggest indebted economies, with a debt bigger than 130% of their GDP. Many European pundits call this country “the sick man in Europe”. Nevertheless, 20 years ago, Italy was one of the wealthiest economies on the planet. Their citizens were even richer than those from Great Britain and their industry was the second biggest in all across Europe. The entire world enjoyed the music of Eros Ramazzotti or Luciano Pavarotti, the Spaguetti Western movies and... well, the Rocco Siffredi movies too. Now those days are gone. This is why many Italian politicians suggest that leaving the Euro would be a solution to get back to the golden years of the Italian economy. But is it right? Is the Euro the problem in Italy? Why are they in such a big crisis? And why did Italy become so rich in the 80s and the 90s, despite the corruption, the red tape and the political unrest? In this video we will answer all of those questions. *ERRATUM Min 8.40: There is a mistake in the chart. It says "1 It LIRA = 400 DM" and "1 It. LIRA = 1300 DM". We meant it the other way around. Why The NETHERLANDS is the World's AGRICULTURE leader? - VisualPolitik EN

14:12
If we ask you who do you think is the World’s biggest potato exporter, you might answer America or maybe China… Those are big countries, with good soil and favourable climate. But despite all of this, the right answer would be the Netherlands, commonly known as Holland. In fact, they are the biggest food exporter right after the United States. This is surprising given that Netherlands is a really small, densely populated, wealthy country. All this features would make a country move away from the primary sector. They almost have no farming land and, having some of the most successful multinational corporations, it is counterintuitive that somebody would choose a job in a farm that one on the corporate world. Nonetheless, we can say Netherlands is the Silicon Valley of agriculture. Or, as they like to call themselves, the Food Valley. Thanks to the famous University of Wageningen, this country has combined rocket science with farming. But how did Netherlands achieve this success? What are the main keys for Dutch agriculture? Why is HOUSING so EXPENSIVE in SPAIN? - VisualPolitik EN

12:45
House prices are rising in almost every country. While the general trend in the rest of the industries is to lower the prices for the goods (food, clothing or technology is becoming cheaper and cheaper every year), the housing market is becoming expensive everywhere. In some countries or cities, owning a house is a whole struggle for anyone making a middle income. Spain is one of the most painful examples. Despite having a much lower income than the Americans, Spaniards must pay way higher prices for their houses. Cities like Barcelona are more expensive than Miami, in Florida, even though the Spanish salaries are half as much as the American ones. Is there any reason why houses are so expensive? Is there any way we can solve this problem? The answer for both questions is yes. In this video, we will tell you more. Argentina, The ROBBERY of the Century? - VisualPolitik EN

13:38
Recently, what could be the largest corruption plot in the history of Argentina and one of the largest looting public funds operations in the history of the world has been uncovered. The plot of the ·notebooks began when Néstor Kirchner became president of Argentina in May 2003 and continued under his wife’s presidency, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner until 2015. During these more than 10 years, billions of dollars were extracted from the Argentine government ‘s public treasury with two very clear objectives: to fill their pockets and consolidate the Kirchners’s power. Politicians, judges, officials and some of the most important businessmen of Argentina participated actively in this whole operation. * In the elaboration of this video, we had the inestimable collaboration of the Argentine historian, Alejandro Gómez, Professor of CEMA University and Visiting Professor in the UFM.
