How To Write Fast: 8 Secrets To Better, Quicker Content Creation

06:11
Knowing how to write fast is not something women entrepreneurs inherently know how to do, and producing high quality content, writing an article or producing blog content can seem to take FOREVER. In this video I'll share 8 secrets for how you can learn to write faster and still create the high quality content that will keep your customers coming back for more. 1. Take a look at your internal dialog before you do anything and really look at the story you are telling yourself about the things you want to change. 2. The two questions you need to ask yourself before writing so that you can reverse engineer your content and get your readers the results they are looking for. 3. How you can organize all of your ideas in one place so you can write faster. 4. The importance of keeping things short and sweet. 5. Why you need to stop everything and create an editorial calendar before writing another word. 6. Why trying to complete the entire writing process at one time won't help you write faster. 7. Work expands to the time allotted...if you want to write faster you need to set a time limit. 8. Be the vessel, not the source. Allow quality content to come through you and take the pressure off yourself by realizing you're not doing this alone. C'mon over to http://marieforleo.com/2012/05/how-to-write-fast where the main discussion happens after the episode! The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe (read by Tom O'Bedlam)

26:05
This is Edgar Allan Poe's most famous horror story. There is speculation about how he knew so well the feelings of the protagonist - was he subject to similar impulses? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Cat_(short_story) It was read with my new Plantronics SAVI 440 clip-on headset. I was mainly trying it out, but it seems to work well enough. Usually I use this kind of microphone with voice recognition software, for writing of stories and articles. There's some analysis here: http://projectgutenbergproject.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/short-story-review-black-cat-by-edgar.html The cover picture came from here: http://bibliospheres.blogspot.co.uk/2010/09/black-cat-alternate-book-cover.html The picture of the cellar is actually from Poe's house in Philadelphia. The cat on the woman's head is a famous Illustration for "The Black Cat" by Aubrey Beardsley (1894--1895)

Learn To Speed Read: Read 300% Faster in 15 Minutes

07:23
Read Faster: Learn to speed read to increase your reading speed CALCULATE READING SPEED- http://www.staples.com/sbd/cre/marketing/technology-research-centers/ereaders/speed-reader/index.html Personal development legend Jim Rohn has this to say "The difference between where you are today and where you'll be five years from now will be found in the quality of books you've read." Well what if you can read 3 times as many books with just a 15 minute exercise! That is exactly what this post will do for you, it has already worked for me and I've had amazing feedback from other people who have tried it. I've also created this amazing tool to help in other areas of life. http://www.businessgrowthlabs.com/dreamsdashboard/ Read 300% Faster in 15 Minutes When you read you do not need to stop and read every word, your eyes make saccadic (jumps) movements across the page and your brain processes the words in that picture. If you have not done the exercises shown in the video, it is likely a person will jump around the page much more than they have to, losing time and even going BACKWARDS sometimes! Another way people lose lots of time when reading is they do not use their peripheral vision to their advantage, this means 50% of their field of vision is used up reading blank margins. Click the video below to learn the two secrets, that come from "The 4-Hour Work Week" by Tim Ferris, you can use to increase your reading speed 300% in 15 minutes. Exercise During all exercises if possible lay book on a flat surface and DO NOT worry about comprehension. Use best judgement when told to keep reading each line to a certain time limit. Speed Reading Step 1- Test Initial Reading Speed by Clicking Link Above. Speed Reading Step 2- Use a pen (lid on) or pencil to underline each word as you read focusing just above it. This gives your eyes something to track and allows for a consistent speed and decreasing fixation duration. Technique (2 Minutes)- max.of 1 sec. per line increasing speed every page. Speed (3 Minutes)- max.of 1/2 sec. per line increasing speed every page Speed Reading Step 3- Still using pen to track but this time start and stop reading "x" words in from the end of the line. So in the sentence (Students used to enjoy reading 4 hours every day) in the first technique stage below you would begin reading with the word "used" and end on "every", but still using your peripheral vision to read the first and last word. Just as you are reading this sentence but you can still see the edge of the computer screen. Technique (1 Minute)- 1 word in from beginning and end (Max. 1 Sec. per line.) Technique (1 Minute)- 2 words in from beginning and end (Max. 1 Sec. per line.) Speed (3 Minutes)- 1 word in from beginning and end (Max. 1/2 Sec. per line.) Speed Reading Step 4- Test Final Reading Speed by Clicking Link Above. Speed Reading Step 5- Leave a comment below of your starting and finishing speed to show improvement. Bonus Speed Reading Tip Whatever speed you wish to read at, you should practice these exercises at 3x that word per minute (wpm). For example if you wish to read at 800 wpm you should practice at 2400 wpm. Think of speed reading as working out a muscle, the more you push yourself to read faster (lifting heavy weights) the easier it is to read at the pace you want with full comprehension (feels like lifting light weights that used to feel heavy). One more thing I have found is that you can continue to improve your reading speed if you do this exercise on a consistent basis. My routine is to do these exercises every saturday morning and after 3 weeks of doing this my reading had increased from 600 wpm to 900 wpm, and from the first time of doing this exercise it was all the way up from 250 wpm! This one little exercise has had one of the most dramatic impacts on my business and personal growth as I am now able to gain, and then apply knowledge almost 4x as fast! This is what you can do also, therefore if what Jim Rohn says is correct in the next 5 years you will be able to gain the equivalent of 20 years experience if you had not had this exercise which takes 15 minutes! ================================================================================ Blog: http://www.zanderwoodford-smith.com ================================================================================

How and Why We Read: Crash Course English Literature #1

07:00
In which John Green kicks off the Crash Course Literature mini series with a reasonable set of questions. Why do we read? What's the point of reading critically. John will argue that reading is about effectively communicating with other people. Unlike a direct communication though, the writer has to communicate with a stranger, through time and space, with only "dry dead words on a page." So how's that going to work? Find out with Crash Course Literature! Also, readers are empowered during the open letter, so that's pretty cool. The Reading List! Short Memory? Zox Pro Could Help | Increase Brain Power | Photographic Memory

07:17
"http://brain-training-program.tumblr.com This approach assumes that students learn to read a language by studying its vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure, not by actually reading it. In this approach, lower level learners read only sentences and paragraphs generated by textbook writers and instructors. The reading of authentic materials is limited to the works of great authors and reserved for upper level students who have developed the language skills needed to read them. The communicative approach to language teaching has given instructors a different understanding of the role of reading in the language classroom and the types of texts that can be used in instruction. When the goal of instruction is communicative competence, everyday materials such as train schedules, newspaper articles, and travel and tourism Web sites become appropriate classroom materials, because reading them is one way communicative competence is developed. Instruction in reading and reading practice thus become essential parts of language teaching at every level. Reading Purpose and Reading Comprehension Reading is an activity with a purpose. A person may read in order to gain information or verify existing knowledge, or in order to critique a writer's ideas or writing style. A person may also read for enjoyment, or to enhance knowledge of the language being read. The purpose(s) for reading guide the reader's selection of texts. The purpose for reading also determines the appropriate approach to reading comprehension. A person who needs to know whether she can afford to eat at a particular restaurant needs to comprehend the pricing information provided on the menu, but does not need to recognize the name of every appetizer listed. A person reading poetry for enjoyment needs to recognize the words the poet uses and the ways they are put together, but does not need to identify main idea and supporting details. However, a person using a scientific article to support an opinion needs to know the vocabulary that is used, understand the facts and cause-effect sequences that are presented, and recognize ideas that are presented as hypotheses and givens. Reading research shows that good readers * Read extensively * Integrate information in the text with existing knowledge * Have a flexible reading style, depending on what they are reading * Are motivated * Rely on different skills interacting: perceptual processing, phonemic processing, recall * Read for a purpose; reading serves a function Reading as a Process Reading is an interactive process that goes on between the reader and the text, resulting in comprehension. The text presents letters, words, sentences, and paragraphs that encode meaning. The reader uses knowledge, skills, and strategies to determine what that meaning is. Religious life Adapted from an article by Carol Schuck Scheiber for VISION Vocation Guide. Read the complete article at: http://www.vocationnetwork.org/articles/show/310 Religious life has a language all its own. Here's a guide to understanding terms you might hear as you explore a vocation as a Catholic sister, brother, or priest. Apostolic Apostolic religious communities are engaged in active ministries: teaching, parish life, health care, justice, service to the poor, and many others. Charism Charism, from the Greek word charisma meaning "gift," is a religious community's particular spirit, way of life, and mission. Contemplative Contemplative religious communities focus on daily prayer, especially the Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, and individual prayer. Cloistered Cloistered or partially cloistered communities live in seclusion and rarely leave their grounds. Their primary focus is on prayer, including prayer for the needs of the world. Many contemplative communities choose to be cloistered. Discernment Discernment is a process of reflection and prayer to determine God's will and the best way to respond to the call to follow Jesus. Missionary Missionary communities send members throughout the world to be a gospel presence and provide compassionate service. Monastic Monastic men and women place a high value on prayer and communal living but many are also engaged in active ministries within and outside of the monastery. Postulant/Novice/Professed Stages of membership in a religious community: A postulant, or candidate, is discerning membership within a community. A novice has begun the process of entering the community. A professed member has formally entered and taken vows. Spiritual direction Those discerning a religious vocation often receive spiritual direction, a process in which they meet with a spiritual director to strengthen their relationship with God and gain insight into their life choices as they relate to their faith. Vows Professed members of a religious community take vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience. Many communities add a fourth or fifth vow related to their charism. Simple Tips for Writing for the Internet http://www.realwritingjobs.com/cb/?hop=vlady21 Writing for the internet requires different skills to those covered in most school writing lessons. This article contains some quick tips to help you get started and to achieve success. 1. Catchy Titles Ensnare Readers The title is the first point of contact with your reader. Make it attention grabbing and relevant to your topic. 2. Keep it Short When reading online it is important to keep it short and simple. Most people can't cope with reading lots of continuous text on-screen. Keeping it short and the writing style simple will give you a wider readership. Your article should aim to be 300-800 words in length. If it is going to be longer then split it into two shorter articles. 3. Keep it Simple A short and simple writing style is important. Use tools like those in MS Word(c) to check the readability level of your writing. A readability level of 63%+ is good. 4. Have Style - Be Straight (Forward!) Talk to your reader. Write in a style that sounds just like you are chatting directly to the reader. This will engage their interest. Imagine you are sitting chatting over a coffee or beer and write. That way you should avoid being too long-winded. 5. Get Writing Write. Write some more. Don't just write for payment. Get your name and style known. Create a blog. Write some Hubs. By building up a range of Hubs you get your name known and your writing read. If you have taken out Adsense affiliateship then you can even make some money whilst breaking in your pen. 6. Check it Out! Edit Your Work It is essential to read through your work to check for errors in spelling and grammar. Many published internet authors will tell you to check and edit your work but do not practice what they preach. Don't have your readers focussing on spelling mistakes instead of your message.
