Bitcoin ATM prices can vary widely, so it's a good idea to keep track of the actual price based on a site like bitcoinaverage.com before making a purchase. In today's video, we visit two BTM's (as they're typically referred to) in the heart of downtown Toronto. The first located at Yonge & Front in Brookfield Place (Gateways newstands). The premium being charged was ridiculous, as you'll see. This BTM is run by tobitcoin.ca. The next BTM we visit is in the Deloitte building at Yonge & Adelaide, just up the street. Not much of a premium being charged, which is refreshing for a BTM. It's being run more as an experiment, rather than a profit centre, as Deloitte (Rubix) dips their toes into "Blockchain-tech". Hope you enjoy!

Andreas Antonopoulos is a public speaker, author, coder, entrepreneur, and one of the most prominent and well-respected figures in bitcoin. Of special note he recently appeared in front of the Canadian Senate and gave an exceptionally articulate and knowledgeable speech advocating for Canadian legislators "to resist the temptation to apply centralized solutions to this decentralized network," and instead look into adopting decentralized regulatory tools like decentralized audits and algorithmic proof-of-reserves. He is also the author of "Mastering Bitcoin", currently available on github, and soon to be published in print by O'Reilly Publications.

Partner: Crowdsale.Network - https://crowdsale.network/ https://steemit.com/@kcnnews The first Ethereum ATMs have been installed in Toronto, Canada. As it is announced on the official website of the atm manufacturer, localcoinatm.com, the company is the first to provide ethereum transactions in Toronto, Brampton and Etobicoke. Previously the ATMs were allowing users to make bitcoin transactions and lately, litecoin was added. As also remarked in the official statement, now it would be very easy for Canadian cryptoenthusiasts to purchase the Etherium with the help of the Local Coin ATMs. The only thing the user needs to do to choose the option “buy altcoins’’ and complete the process. The company is planning to install new ATMs in different parts of Canada. Since it's inception in 2009, the decentralized cryptocurrency better known as Bitcoin has been a source of excitement, controversy and intrigue. On February 18th, 2015 at Project: OWL in Toronto, we assembled a panel aimed at demystifying the world of Bitcoin - How does block chain technology work? Why is it this trend so disruptive? And what does it mean for the future of currency? Our panelists included Gerald Cotten (Founder/CEO, QuadrigaCX), Anthony Di Iorio (Founder, Decentral), Alex Ianus (Software Engineer, Coinbase) and William Mougayar (Founder, Startup Management). http://www.singularityweblog.com/arthur-traviss-corry-on-bitcoin-decentral/ I have often felt that being located in Toronto, Canada puts me at a bit of a disadvantage with respect to having a futuristic high-tech blog and podcast. Living in Silicon Valley or New York [or a number of cities in Asia and Europe] appears to make it easier to stay at the cutting edge of technology and meet the amazing people pushing it forward. However, after visiting Decentral, I am convinced that there you can meet people who are making things happen and changing the world as we know it. And so I have come to believe that things are changing for the better – not only for Toronto and Canada but also for the world in general. One of the people behind this change is Arthur Traviss Corry. And so I was very excited to visit Arthur aboard his sail-boat – The Dialectic, and interview him about his work, his passion and the future. During our 40 min conversation with Cory we cover a variety of interesting topics such as: Decentral as start up accelerator, investment fund and mentorship space; exciting ventures in residence such as Buttercoin and Ethereum; the pros and cons of decentralized apps; 51% attack and other vulnerabilities; bitcoin and its potential for good and bad; anarchy and the role of the state; regulation and the potential for backlash; AI and transhumanism… My favorite quote that I will take away from this conversation with Arthur Traviss Corry is: “Software development is an art and these are the artists creating it… It is probably the most important art of our time.”

I have been watching a few documentary about financial institution and the conception of bitcoin and it fascinate me that I will be part of something so big, which is made by the people for the people. So it started, in the morning I conducted a few interviews for Fintech Finance before joining the other racers at iGTB's booth at Sibos. We took lots of pictures and then bam ! It was started, everyone took different directions, our first challenge was to get video of people wishing us luck, we got our first challenge just after than, mine was to go to Columbus in Ohio, go to the Jack Nicklaus Museum and take a selfie with a souvenir and a Ohio hat. What a challenge. First I was offered help by Jennifer, who offered to drive me to Rochester and then get a flight, then Sergey offered to buy me a flight. In the end, I ended up catching a bus, with help of Abbas, a member of the Bitcoin Bay community that operates in Toronto. I am very luck to have a currency in which the community is so involved and supportive. I am off the the big adventure. Ethereum Toronto hosts an interview with Augur. Augur - one of the most exciting projects currently in development within the Ethereum ecosystem. Augur is a decentralized predication market that seeks to leverage the wisdom of the crowd, giving users the power to buy and sell shares in the outcome of the event. If you remember InTrade, the centralized predication market that shut down several years ago, you're in the right ballpark. The key difference here is that Augur will exist on the blockchain, leveraging Ethereum's unique capabilities and taking advantage of everything decentralization has to offer. Augur's innovations have received a lot of attention; the project even been selected as a finalist in the Singularity University and CNBC XCS Challenge. The Augur Team will be joining us remotely from the Bay Area, discussing the latest and greatest about Augur, as well as answering your questions.

It was the machine face that launched a thousand articles. News of the world's first real Bitcoin ATM being installed in a coffee shop in Vancouver, Canada on Tuesday set the media afire, with stories published across the globe. Whether related or not, in the day after the CND$ BTC machine went live, "Bitcoin" became the second most read article on Wikipedia, after "Halloween." Bitcoiniacs, which bought the $18,500 machine from Reno, Nevada-based Robocoin. While most of that is people buying Bitcoins, $6,000 worth of Bitcoins have been traded for Canadian cash. Demeter says he's planning to install four more Bitcoin ATMs around Canada. Financial regulators have told him they're not interested in his ATM as Canada doesn't regard Bitcoin as a currency. The machine's only nod toward the law is a palm scanner to ensure that no one palm exchanges more than $3,000 per day, per a federal requirement intended to prevent money laundering. But why is the world so excited about this machine? And why would anyone use it? The whole financial point of the peer-to-peer, decentralized currency is to make online money transmission easy and transaction-fee free. Though the machine makes a near instant exchange taking less than a minute reports Wired says there is a 3% fee to change money using the machine, making it pricier than most online exchanges. San Francisco-based Coinbase charges a 1% fee to change money to Bitcoin. Canadian Virtual Exchange has fees from .5% to 1.5%. "Why trundle down to a regular ATM to get bills to stuff into the Bitcoin ATM, when you could do the same transaction on your couch pay fewer fees?" writes Jeff John Roberts at Gigaom. While the machine does facilitate anonymity by allowing you to convert directly from cash to Bitcoin without attaching a bank account or identity credentials as you must with Bitcoin exchanges like Coinbase or, now, Mt. Though part of the reason a palm was chosen is that it's a biometric not often used unless you're taking the GMAT. bitcoin "bitcoin atm" vancouver cafe "vancouver canada" "digital currency" cryptocurrency "online currency" atm cash forex "currency exchange" "bitcoin wallet" bank banking system government dollar euro "u.s. dollar" "bitcoin mining" economy future price mt.gox wallet debt "gold bullion" "gold coin" "silver bullion" fraud identity technology "bitcoin exchange" payment paypal alternative accounting "united states" "gold atm" trends trendy demand collapse ebay shopping "silver eagle" "U.S. mint" 2013 2014 agenda nwo 829speedy bitcoin trends research There was a race on to be the first to develop a Bitcoin ATM, with Robocoin primarily competing with New Hampshire-based Lamassu and BitcoinATM. Bitcoiniacs chose Robocoin because "they're the only ones that have a functioning product," says Demeter. "Everyone's talking about it but no one had anything ready." Despite the fact that the machine doesn't make much sense economically, I believe it got widespread coverage because of people's fascination with Bitcoin in the real world. People have trouble grasping the "mining" and cryptography and peer-to-peer network stuff, but an ATM that you put money into that shoots a Bitcoin address out?
