When Stornoway’s Renard diamond mine began production in July 2016, it made history — not only as the first diamond mine in Quebec, Canada, but also because of the unique way the project was financed. Stornoway’s financing package is made up of a series of transactions including equity, a diamond stream, project debt facilities, and the equipment financing facility provided by Cat Financial. Cat® High-Performance Shearer Longwall Systems
High-performance longwall operations demand shearers of the highest quality and reliability. The Cat® range of longwall shearers are designed to meet these demands - covering seam heights from 1.6 m up to 7.0 m (5.3 ft -- 23.0 ft). With high-powered ranging arms and haulage systems, Cat shearers cut and load up to 5,000 tonnes (5,500 tons) per hour in medium to high seams. The Cat roof support systems are available for mining heights from 550 to 7500 mm (1.80 to 24.60 ft) -- with support capacities in excess of 1750 tonnes (1,929 tons). Also the Cat® face conveyor systems are designed to provide maximum carrying capacity at maximum face length. The Principle of Longwall Top Coal Caving (LTCC)
Caterpillar has extensive experience in the design of roof supports for specific mining conditions. Cat Longwall Top Coal Caving (LTCC) roof supports allow mining of seams seams thicker than 6 meters (20 feet). Following a conventional cut with a shearer to about 3 m (9.8 ft) the roof supports move forward and allow the caving of the top coal behind the roof supports a second conveyor mounted gob-side. This special LTCC method enables increased coal reserve recovery for only an incremental additional cost. This animation shows how it works.

Caterpillar tie-up 'a big deal', says Seeing Machines boss
Seeing Machines Ltd (LON: SEE), a specialist in eye-tracking technology, reported a 161% increase in revenues in the year ended June as it benefited from its licensing agreement with Caterpillar (NYSE:CAT). Chief executive Ken Kroeger told Proactive ''the deal has been in the works for a long time. It's been four years of hard work by a number of people but the purpose of it is if you think of the mining industry, there's two thousand mines , very remote, hard to get there and hard to service and were looking for a partner with feet on the ground in those places. So for us we see out technology now being distributed through the 160'sh dealers globally from Caterpillar instead of our small sales team''. The tie-up with CAT was responsible for A$21.8mln of turnover out of a total US$33.6mln. Kroeger said Seeing Machines is also looking at applications in the aviation, trucking and transportation sectors. He added that the biggest potential prize could be in the automotive industry and the area of semi-autonomous cars saying they're developing a stand-alone business focused on the automotive industry. “It requires a certain discipline, quality assurance and it also requires a significant amount of capital because when you think about cars it's really a four year venture from when they start designing that car to when it goes into market and we have to carry that without any revenue until it gets there,” Kroeger said.
#2016PBIF - Key Quotes - Jeffrey Hardee: 'Caterpillar in the Philippines'
#2016PBIF - Key Quotes - Jeffrey Hardee: 'Caterpillar in the Philippines' 2016 Philippines Business & Investment Forum: Over the past five years, the Philippines has gone from being known as the “sick man” of Asia to the region’s stellar performer, lauded by international investors and analysts as one of the most promising countries for future growth and investment. As evidence, in 2013 the three major international credit rating agencies – Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s and Fitch - all raised the Philippines’ sovereign debt to an investment grade rating, the first time it has achieved this status. The country’s GDP grew at an average of 6.3 per cent from 2010-2014, the highest five-year average in the past 40 years. In order for the country to realize its potential over the next decade, the current consumer-driven expansion will have to change to investment-led growth. Although last year ́s $6.2 billion in foreign investment was the highest figure ever, more international investment is required in strategic areas such as infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, agriculture, education and healthcare. The Philippines Business & Investment Forum in New York will bring together influential leaders from the Filipino government and private sector, along with their U.S. and relevant international counterparts for an in-depth analysis of the Philippine economic and political situation and the opportunities it holds for investors, both in capital markets and in industry. Jeffrey J. Hardee, Executive Director Government & Corporate Affairs Asia Pacific, Caterpillar: Jeffrey Hardee has worked in Asia for over 25 years and currently serves on the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and the Board of the US-ASEAN Business Council. Prior to this, Hardee worked at Dell as Executive Director, Government Affairs, Asia Pacific. He led Dell’s policy work in the region and supported business units on business opportunities and strategy. He served on Dell’s Global Giving Council and was on the Board of the US Information Technology Office (USITO). Hardee also served as Vice President & Regional Director, Asia Pacific, Business Software Alliance (BSA). He directed BSA’s work on intellectual property, e-commerce and trade policy issues and managed BSA’s education and enforcement activities in the region. He spoke to the press regularly about software issues. Prior to this, Hardee worked for the Motion Picture Association (MPA) as Vice President, Asia-Pacific. He handled market access issues for theatrical, video and television distribution and led efforts on legislation to protect copyrights and promote e-commerce. Hardee began his career at the U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC) as a Presidential Management Intern (PMI) and went on to head the Malaysia/Singapore/ Brunei desk and subsequently the Taiwan desk. His last position with USDOC was with the Foreign Commercial Service at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia. Hardee has a bachelor degree in economics and political science from Duke University and a master of public affairs degree from the University of Texas in Austin. He currently serves on the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and the Board of the US-ASEAN Business Council. He is also a member of the B20 Infrastructure Taskforce. He was an Alternate Member for the United States on the Business Advisory Council to APEC (ABAC) 2013-2015.

Given the rising and present challenges the world faces from the effects of climate change, more focus is being placed on the preservation of the environment. The mining sector, historically, has taken a toll on the environment and Guyana is making a conscious effort to address this. President Granger says there has to be a wiser form of mining. President Granger noted that while Guyana does not contribute in a net way to global warming, the state has the responsibility to ensure it remains that way. The head of state noted it is a holistic agenda that should not just be concerned with LCDS but several aspects of everyday life. At a press conference last week, Natural Resources Minister Raphael Trotman announced that the ministry is already taking steps to aid these preservation efforts.
Vance White on finding the next Kidd Creek
October 16, 2017 -- Vance White, President, CEO and Director of Noble Mineral Exploration Inc. (TSXV: NOB) (“Noble”) in an interview with InvestorIntel Senior Editor, Jeff Wareham discuss Project 81, a VMS/gold project immediately adjacent to the historic Kidd Creek mine. Project 81 has a 70,000 hectares block of mineral rights that are underexplored, with only some exploration completed by Canico and McIntyre Porcupine Mines in the 60’s and early 70’s. Noble has partnered with ORIX Geoscience Inc. to explore the property using map surveying technology, such as Heliborne EM/MAG survey and Gravity Gradiometer survey. Using this technology, Vance anticipates Noble will discover a similar signature to the next Kidd Creek mine. Vance then goes on to explain how Noble’s joint venture projects will benefit shareholders. Jeff Wareham: There has been a lot of news from your company recently...what should investors be focused on? Vance White: What we are doing and what we put together is an opportunity to follow up on an exploration program that would be looking for the next Kidd Creek Mine. Kidd Creek Mine came into production in the mid-sixties, was discovered in the early sixties, has produced something on the order of about 150 million tons of ore, has employed something on the order of about 20,000 persons over the course of its 50-year history. Jeff Wareham: You have just been out in the market financing. Investors are probably paying attention to the stock. India Crawls Its Way Up On Caterpillar's Wishlist
After Apple's Tim Cook yesterday said that India could be the next China in the smart phone market, another US corporation Caterpillar Inc - that is the world's largest construction and equipment company, has echoed same sentiments for the group's construction business. Caterpillar's Global Group President, Thomas Pillette said that India is one of the bright spots for the construction giant and will make the country an export hub for Africa and Middle East. Its increased India focus is interesting as it comes at the backdrop of Caterpillar witnessing a steady revenue decline for the last four years which has forced the company to undergo painful restructuring involving laying off 15,000 people since 2012 and shutting down at least 15 manufacturing plants across the globe. Also, the company's high growth market, China has significantly slowed down now and Caterpillar's volumes in that country has plummeted 80% since the highs of 2011-12. Here's a slice of that conversation.

WARNING: Global Economic Free Fall -- Andy Hoffman
Andy Hoffman from Miles Franklin is back to document the current state of the collapse of the global economy - and the situation is only getting worse by the day. From Caterpillar to Glencore Mining, the future is as clear as it is bleak. And most American still have absolutely NO IDEA what's in store for them as the FED dominoes of fraud begin falling. TRILLIONS have been printed with no "trickle down" in sight. Meanwhile, there is plenty of paper silver and gold, and precious little PHYSICAL - even as the 1980 inflation adjusted all-time high for silver passes $600 per ounce. The sheeple sleep snug in their beds certain that today's debt based paradigm will continue forever. They are in for a rude awakening.
