ENGLISH TRANSCRIPT OF FRENCH VOICE-OVER:
Two days before International Women Day, celebrated on 8 March, Tigo DRC, leader in the world of digital, brought another dimension to the event by launching Tigo WOMEN.
Tigo WOMEN is an internal network, better yet, a platform on which to regroup Tigo DRC’s female employees.
It's mission is not only to promote women but also, and mainly, to increase the visibility of their respective professional activities, and their achievements within the company.
During the launch event of Tigo WOMEN, there were two key milestones during the course of the day: CEO Uche Ofodile’s speech, and the workshop activities.
In her speech, the CEO talked about her own career development.
Among her words of advice to the audience was the importance of identifying and seizing opportunities, the importance of knowing how to take risks in order to reach expected performance levels:
"If there's anything that I would like you to take away from my story today, there are three things:
• Never think that any opportunity is too small for you. You never know where that opportunity can lead.
• You have to take risks. If you are going to sit in your office quietly on your laptop, you may be the best performer, but you may not move ahead. You have to be able to put yourselves out there and take risks.
• And the last thing, you have to perform. You have to be amazing at your job.”
During the day, everybody attending gathered in groups for workshops and shared their own professional experiences.
Aurélie Méméliwando, P&D Manager: "The main objectives of this network is to contribute to the development of female employees within the company, reinforce the number of women employees at all levels, including in management and top management positions.
"It is our goal to contribute to their professional fulfillment and reinforce as well their commitment to the Company. We have a clear action plan for Tigo DRC female employees, which consists of a female leadership development plan, coaching, mentoring, etc. What you can remember is that today, the woman is valued at Tigo DRC and she remains a priority at Tigo."
Indeed, we count today more women with higher education and great professional experience working in companies in the DRC.
To mark the occasion, a buffet was served to all members of the platform.
Tigo DRC is working towards increasing its female staff, and this is one of its priorities. On the same note, Tigo is trying to provide all the necessary tools to enable its staff to work without any constraint.
Far from any discriminatory ideas within the company, this network group is there to encourage diversity.
After the handing out of gifts at the end, a family photo was taken in order to record the event. It began at 9 AM. The ceremony ended at 2 pm in an interactive and participative atmosphere with exceptional turnout for the launch, despite the fact it rained all day.
