Level 1 Emergency Exercise 2015 - North Goonyella Coal Mine
This video demonstrates how a level 1 emergency exercise provides an opportunity to test a mine’s emergency preparedness through annual simulated emergency exercises. These exercises provide the opportunity for mines and workers to gain experience in an emergency situation and for mines to learn how to improve their safety systems. Find out more information about emergency exercises and download the reports at: https://publications.qld.gov.au/dataset/queensland-level-1-mine-emergency-exercise-reports The requirements for conducting mine emergency exercises are set out in Recognised Standard 8. Download the standard and reports of recent exercises: https://www.dnrm.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/240374/recognised-standard-08.pdf We hope there is never a need to use them, however all mines should ensure emergency activation numbers are readily available and early reporting is encouraged. Clean skins at Ulan West
When Glencore opened its new Ulan West mine near Mudgee, it took the unprecedented step of recruiting its staff from outside the industry known as "clean skins". This offered an opportunity for people from all walks of life to learn new skills and enter the mining industry as well as allowing Glencore to build the culture at this site from the ground up. This video features at the 2014 NSW Mining Health and Safety Conference where the theme is learning from the past for a safer future, with a focus on risk management and road and vehicle safety. Find out more about this event at www.nswmining.com.au/events and see why our NSW miners have one of the best safety records in the world at www.worldclassminers.com.au

Introduction to Longwall Mining in Illinois
In November 2009, Eco-Justice Collaborative (www.ecojusticecollaborative.org) traveled with representatives of Topless America and the Sierra Club to central Illinois to take a first-hand look at longwall mining. This highly-mechanized form of mining includes planned subsidence, causing land to drop from 4 to 6 feet. It is occurring under some of the best farmland in the world, trading prime farmland for cheap coal. As land subsides, foundations crack and septic systems and wells are affected. Residents often leave their homes and farms, depopulating and destroying what used to be cohesive communities, rather than negotiate repairs with mining companies. Longwall mining is Illinois form of mountaintop removal mining. As with mountaintop removal mining, toxic chemicals are used to process coal. Evidence suggests that these chemicals are leaching into ground water and water supplies at selected locations. This video highlights impacts in central Illinois Macoupin County, and takes an initial look at the proposed Deer Run Mine in Montgomery County which, if constructed as planned, will be the largest coal mine in the U.S. To learn more, contact Pam or Lan Richart at [email protected] or Citizens Against Longwall Mining: [email protected]

V2i - Mining, Gas & Resources
Xstrata Coal commissioned V2i to produce a comprehensive 3d visualisation induction & training presentation for miners working on an underground long wall in Queensland, Australia". The Brief was to transfer knowledge about the restricted access areas, no go zones & associated dangers. The miners were to be given a "visual" of the underground environment, accompanied by a detailed explanation, to facilitate comprehension & understanding - ultimately this would improve overall miner safety. V2i fulfilled the initial Brief & are currently working on the production of their 3rd project for Xstrata.

Bailey Coal Mine in Wind Ridge Pa. serves up 45,000 tons of coal per day
Coal produces nearly half the electricity in the U.S., but the mercury, sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide it emits also make it one of the most controversial energy sources. New EPA regulations and a national Sierra Club campaign have added to rising anti-coal sentiment. For many environmental activists, coal represents an old, dirty source of power, but for coal-mining communities around the country, the story is different. Level 1 Emergency 2017 - Broadmeadow Coal Mine
The 2017 level 1 mine emergency was conducted at Broadmeadow mine, about 30km north-east of Moranbah in Central Queensland. All Queensland underground coal mines must run annual simulations to test their readiness for emergencies. In addition to their own exercises, each year one mine hosts the state's level 1 emergency exercise. These exercises have been held annually since 1998 and are monitored by assessors from the Queensland, New South Wales and international coal mining community.

3D engineering display of low seam longwall coal mining technology
HOT can help you to maximize ore reserve value basis on our operating expertise We have years of underground mine engineering and operating experience and across multiple commodities using all common mining methods. Especially, we have many successful design and operation experiences for underground coal mines those are thin coal seam, large dip angle, as well as many faultags. And most of these coal mines (thin coal seam) are designed and operated by longwall mining method (fully mechanized mining). The thin coal seam longwall method helps to satisfy the highest safety standard and more margins. ● Large dip angle, thin coal seam longwall(dip angle range: 35°-55°) ● Thin coal seam, very thin coal seam longwall(Thinnest seam range: 0.8m ~ 1.3m)

Cat® GH800B Longwall Plow System in Operation - 1
See the new GH800B plow system operating at the German Ibbenbüren mine – suiting the specific geological conditions of a coal seam with an average height of only 85 cm (33 in). The new technologically advanced Cat GH800B plow with improved design features enhancing productivity in minimum seam heights below 1.0 m (39 in). The plow body of this next generation plow has an optimized design which allows loading more coal onto the face conveyor and reduces the amount of cutting power wasted for this process. The GH800B plow system with 2 x 400 kW (2 x 540 hp) installed power now covers mining heights from 750 to 1550 mm (30 to 61 in).
