Microsoft SQL Server 2012 for the new world of data SQL Server 2012 to Help Customers Manage "Any Data, Any Size, Anywhere" Speaker: Richard Chin, General Manager SQL Server Strategy on Big Data Video: Tony Thijs/ Open Marketing Foundation Richard Chin: ,,SQL Server 2012 is a major step for us towards realizing the modern data platform. I' going to talk abut hree things. The first is about mission critical confidence, SQL Server is for the datacenter. The second is break through insight and third, you have the choice to perform your database service and in the cloud.'' Richard Chin continues in part two:,,Most times people speak about Big Data, they speak about it generically, we are talking about Big Data in a few ways. Like big volumes of data, like data sets you have today in your corporation. Big Data is also about a variity of data, from unstructured to structured data sets and so forth. Big Data is also the velocuty of data, the streaming of data. Speaking about Big Data, people are also talking about Map Reduce. Microsoft has a unique perspective of Big Data. Microsoft is the only major vendor in the database field to be in the hundred terabyte with users of big data. We handle over a hunderd terabyte of data for our own use. Sql Server is going to be integrated with Hadoop, the Open Source solution for Map reduce and Microsoft is going to invest to bring Hadoop ont the Microsoft platform and into Azure, the Microsoft cloud.'' Any data SQL Server 2012 helps address the challenges of increasing data volumes by rapidly turning data into actionable business insights. Expanding on Microsoft's commitment to help customers manage any data, regardless of size, both on-premises and in the cloud, the company today also disclosed additional details regarding its plans to release an Apache Hadoop-based service for Windows Azure. Actionable insights "Data is being generated faster than ever before, and organizations need a way to process and analyze all that data," said Ted Kummert, corporate vice president at Microsoft. COURSE DESCRIPTION Microsoft SQL Server and Business Intelligence Online Course written by: denis_chirchir Microsoft SQL Server MSBI Online Training is an online oriented program to equip the learner with business intelligence skills with the use of Microsoft Business Intelligence (MSBI) tools. Business intelligence is a technical process of acquiring data, analyzing the data and transforming it into useful information that aid corporate executives, business managers and developers in making profitable business decisions. An SQL Server is a relational database management system for storing and retrieving data and information as requested by applications. COURSE OVERVIEW The Microsoft SQL Server MSBI Online Training program comprises of three major parts : SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analytical Services (SSAS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is an ETL (extract, transform and load) tool that integrates data in different formats such as text files, excel, Oracle, MySQL, and other formats into one format and saves the data into a data warehouse. Some of the concepts covered include: SSIS architecture which includes packages, control flow, and data flow; SSIS tools which comprise of SSIS package designer, control flow, connection managers, variables, data flow, parameters and event handlers. SSIS tasks is also a major concept and covers SSIS task objects, looping and sequence tasks, script task, analysis services tasks and data flow tasks. SSIS Containers are also studied and include task host containers, sequence containers and groups. Other SSIS concepts covered are data flow which focuses on understanding data flow, data viewers , sources, destinations and common transformations. How to use variables, parameters and expressions when dealing with dynamic package objects, understanding data types, and working with expressions is part of the course. SSIS methods of joining data, scripting, essential coding, debugging and troubleshooting techniques, loading a data warehouse, advanced data cleansing and using a relational engine are covered as well. SQL Server Analytical Services (SSAS) is another major part of the Microsoft SQL Server MSBI Online Training program. The main concepts include introduction to OLAP(Online Analytical Processing) where aspects such as data warehousing, applications of OLAP, history of OLAP and data mining are covered. Cubes, Dimensions and Measures is also a major part of SSAS and explains cubes and their components, defining measures and dimensions, multidimensional expressions, data warehouses and storage. The SSAS development environment requirements and architecture, the developer and admin Services are explored using Business Intelligence development Studio and SQL Server management studio. Other concepts covered in SSAS are creating a data source view, creating dimensions, building a cube, deploying and processing, MDX(Multidimensional expressions) features, cube features, data mining, PowerPivot, administration and user interfaces.SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a reporting service that represents analyzed data graphically, in dashboards and reports. As part of the Microsoft SQL Server MSBI Online training program, aspects covered include introducing the reporting services architecture, report authoring and designing efficient queries, introduction to reporting services design with SQL Server, laying out a report, implementing dashboard-style report objects and building reports. How to use custom .NET code with reports, deploying reports, rendering reports from .NET applications, managing reports, securing reports and delivering Business Intelligence with SSRS, creating reports using Report Builder 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 are other concepts covered under SSRS. BENEFITS The Microsoft SQL Server MSBI Online Training program has many benefits. First, the course is practical and real time, second one gets certification and third, its highly interactive. The course learner, after training should be able to design data warehouses, deploy and optimize ETL packages, design maps, charts, dashboards, cubes, and conduct MDX queries, expressions and partitioning. An organization benefits from MSBI in ways such as actionable intelligence, real-time decision making, information integration and complete end-to-end solutions, through application of MSBI concepts. Analysis Services - 02 Data Source Creation

16:53
So, our first stop is to get to know the database we will be creating a cube from and also understand how we connect to it through Analysis Services. What is a Data Source ? A Data Source is an object that allows a product such as SSAS/SSRS/SSIS to connect to a database system. The database can even been client based such as Microsoft Access or even Microsoft Excel, anyone how deals with databases may be familiar these terms, however there is a line in the sand that never really gets mentioned but most people know it's there. When does our ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) stop and Cubes start, this is more of an art form than an exacting science. I would however recommend that when dealing with Data Sources in SSAS you should already be at a point where your data is in a highly "denormalised" state. This then bring us on to the terms "Normalised" versus "Denormalised", this is inherently the same as saying OLTP and OLAP. Now if these statements leaves you feeling confused or slightly scared, don't be. These are terminologies that need to be addressed and this video will tell you how! So sit back with your first cup of coffee and watch an overview of the database and how we would initially connect to the system ready for cube magic.

www.dorossweb.com Apprendre SQL ----------------------- Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system developed by Microsoft. As a database, it is a software product whose primary function is to store and retrieve data as requested by other software applications, be it those on the same computer or those running on another computer across a network (including the Internet). There are at least a dozen different editions of Microsoft SQL Server aimed at different audiences and for different workloads (ranging from small applications that store and retrieve data on the same computer, to millions of users and computers that access huge amounts of data from the Internet at the same time). Its primary query languages are T-SQL Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server Apprendre SQL Apprendre SQL Prior to version 7.0 the code base for MS SQL Server was sold by Sybase SQL Server to Microsoft, and was Microsoft's entry to the enterprise-level database market, competing against Oracle, IBM, and, later, Sybase. Microsoft, Sybase and Ashton-Tate originally worked together to create and market the first version named SQL Server 1.0 for OS/2 (about 1989) which was essentially the same as Sybase SQL Server 3.0 on Unix, VMS, etc. Microsoft SQL Server 4.2 was shipped around 1992 Apprendre SQL (available bundled with IBM OS/2 version 1.3). Later Microsoft SQL Server 4.21 for Windows NT was released at the same time as Windows NT 3.1. Microsoft SQL Server v6.0 was the first version designed for NT, and did not include any direction from Sybase. About the time Windows NT was released in July 1993, Sybase and Microsoft parted ways and each pursued its own design and marketing schemes. Microsoft negotiated exclusive rights to all versions of SQL Server written for Microsoft operating systems. (In 1996 Sybase changed the name of its product to Adaptive Server Enterprise to avoid confusion with Microsoft SQL Server.) Until 1994, Microsoft's SQL Server carried three Sybase copyright notices as an indication of its origin. SQL Server 7.0 and SQL Server 2000 included modifications and extensions to the Sybase code base, adding support for the IA-64 architecture. By SQL Server 2005 the legacy Sybase code had been completely rewritten.[5] Since the release of SQL Server SQL Server 2000, advances have been made in performance, the client IDE tools, and several complementary systems that are packaged with SQL Server 2005. These include: SQL Server SQL Server an extract-transform-load (ETL) tool (SQL Server Integration Services or SSIS) a Reporting Server SQL Server an OLAP and data mining server (Analysis Services) SQL Server several messaging technologies, specifically Service Broker and Notification Services SQL Server SQL Server SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.50.1600.1, formerly codenamed "Kilimanjaro") was announced at TechEd 2009, and was released to manufacturing on April 21, 2010.
