Sagittarius Mines Incorporated. Anti- Mining Rally in South Cotabato 121011

03:03
December 10, 2011 NO TO LARGE SCALE MINING IN SOUTH COTABATO! Close to a thousand anti-mining activists were gathered at Koronadal City culminating here for their LAKBAYAN or Caravan from Davao City, Gensan and Tampakan! They were denouncing the presence of Foreign-funded, Multi-national giant financier, SMI (Sagittarius Mines Incorporated/ Western Mining Corporation ) for the supposed Grand & Large Scale Mining in Southern Philippines! The precious FIND, and touted as the largest in Southeast Asia covers more than 10,000 hectares of rich mineral deposits (not included the surrounding infrastructures already built), is located bordering the mountains of four neighboring (4) provinces. The center of attraction is Tampakan, South Cotabato where we can find the main entrance to the Mining site. On the other hand, there were reported inappropriate behavior by nearby provinces with regards to their future shares by also claiming their right to ownerships. The supporting casts of characters that claim the shares were coming from Davao del Sur, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani Provinces! I'm a STRONG OPPOSITION TO THE ESTABLISHMENTS OF MINING EXPLORATION at any SITES IN MINDANAO! This kind of hazardous activity poses danger to the health of our people for absorbing the toxic wastes and tailings coming from the Mining sites. The nerve-wracking chemicals from the WORLD CLASS- HIGH TECHNOLOGY mining explorations carry with it THE TOXINS but to the POTABLE WATER AND ENVIRONMENT people living in Mindanao! The tremendous contaminations shall enveloped all rivers draining the mountains of Tampakan cascading down towards Lake Buluan, Liguasan Marsh and finally drains into the Rio Grande de Mindanao! This is horrible, a man-made catastrophe! THE NERVE damage brought about by Mercury & resulting destruction of human tissue cells shall convert the normally looking people of Mindanao to MONSTER-LOOKING FACE on top of other severe physical disabilities! NO TO LARGE SCALE MINING IN SOUTH COTABATO! My comment: Nganong WILD man kaayo ang uban nga nikuyog sa rally? Kun wala diay ko makapadagan kusog-ikyas gawas palayo sakay sa akoang sakyanan, namatay na siguro ko! Nganong dili man mo gusto kuhaan ug picture or video footage kay naa man mo sa public place ug sa dalan? DO YOU HAVE PROPER PROTOCOL? Or just plain arrogance? Mao diay kana ang inyohang pangdumala? Mao ba jud kanang mga tagabukid? Its UNRULY CROWD and wild-wild mob rulers on the loose (not all anyway)! Our advocacy is good but we have to behave properly in public; we can't just put the laws under our hands- or else NOBODY IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD BELIEVE THAT YOU WERE SERIOUS WITH YOUR CAUSE! Some may have that vested interest, to put up their own small-scale mining in the areas- for free! Because, I noticed some in the crowd were rude, sporting a rugged features, ANIMALISTIC, BARBARIC AND UNDISCIPLINED! Basig wala'y tulog, kapoy ug gutom lang ciguro; peru ayaw pud mog patakag dasmag dayon oi! - kolokoy man diay ka!- naputol nalang akoang footage ani! PAREHA RA TA ISOG DONG! KUN HERO KA MAS HERO KINI- sa maayong pamaagi ug diplomasiya lang ko! Kangaro man diay ka! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eh3lRWs2Ys December 13, 2011 I'm of course supporting the 'ANTI-MINING' EXPLORATION IN MINDANAO! My question to the ORGANIZERS of Rallies and sort; - whats your protocol for the rules of engagement? Along your path, why do some of your co-activists JUST GRABBED & HURT SOMEONE ALONG THE WAY with the intention of 'KILLING' by mere suspicion of xyzxyz 'PRO-MINING? My God, you're on the STREETS and its a public property! FOR ALL YOU KNOW, WE ARE THE SILENT SUPPORTERS OF ANTI-MINING. We resort to more SECURE method of airing our sentiments & were using these ELECTRONIC GADGETS to send the message around & ACROSS the World! You're such an unruly idiots and moron on the loose! Please, we have to settle things in proper venue, not by force or intimidation OR ELSE THIS LAND OF OURS does not need the LAW ANYMORE or we don't recognize the basic law of civilization, the RULE of Law & Order! We are not BARBARIC PEOPLE, worse, short of becoming animals & Cannibals! I'm going to raise my case to the Commission on Human Rights and to my fb friends -!! Please, Sir Joe can we still inject discipline down here? Lots of cause-oriented and BAYAN groups were there! Thank you! God Bless! I repeat, God bless!

This is a reply to the false arguments presented by three miners, Manny Pangilinan of Philex, Peter Wallace, and Gerry Brimo, chair of the chamber of mines, during a mining conference where oppositors were not given a chance to ask questions and offer counter-arguments. This is a blow-by-blow rebuttal. Please pass, so people will realize that mining offers short term gains and long term irreparable damage. Please pass also to people in the mining sector, so they have a chance to reply, in fairness, if they wish. coming soon REFUTING MANNY PANGILINAN OF PHILEX killer dam part 3b REFUTING PETER WALLACE Killer dam part 3c

Rajah Buayan Silongan led a revolt against the Spanish colonizers in the Battle of Tampakan (the present-day Kabuntalan town in Maguindanao)in 1596 . Capitan Esteban Rodriguez de Figueroa was defeated and killed by Silongan’s brother, Datu Makagubal in 1596 Battle of Tampakan . Rajah Buayan Silongan was the forebear of the Mangudadatu clan of Maguindanao. He was the uncle of the Muslim hero, Sultan Muhammad Dipatuan Kudarat, and a grandson of Shariff Kabunsuan, who brought Islam to Central Mindanao in 1447. Silongan’s brother, Datu Makagubal, killed a Portuguese conquistador, Capitan Esteban Rodriguez de Figueroa, the leader of a 1596 colonial expedition to Mindanao, which included 150 Spanish officers, 120 crew members and 1,500 Filipino converts from the north who were armed with swords, spears and shields. 20180719 Thursday PTV4 News FPS 76719 Know what happened today only on Maharlika N BULUAN, MAGUINDANAO— Moro heroes who fought the Spanish colonizers and whom national hero Dr. Jose Rizal defended in one of his “subversive” writings 120 years ago will be immortalized in a museum that will rise here. The two-story Rajah Buayan Silongan Peace Center at the town center and near the main highway will house the museum to showcase historical materials, archaeological finds and even oral accounts of the Maguindanao, Teduray, Lambangian and Manobo peoples. Rajah Buayan Silongan was a Maguindanaoan who fought and repelled Spain’s first attempt to conquer Mindanao in April 1596. When Rizal defended him and his brother, and the Maguindanao people from condemnation by the Spanish chronicler Antonio de Morga in the book, “Sucesos de las Islas Filipinas” (Events in the Philippine Islands, 1609), he incurred the ire of Spanish authorities. Rizal was detained for sedition for his writings. Figueroa expedition Silongan’s brother, Datu Makagubal, killed a Portuguese conquistador, Capitan Esteban Rodriguez de Figueroa, the leader of a 1596 colonial expedition to Mindanao, which included 150 Spanish officers, 120 crew members and 1,500 Filipino converts from the north who were armed with swords, spears and shields. Spanish Governor General Gomez Perez Dasmariñas had promised Figueroa vast territory and the position of governor-general in Mindanao if he succeeded in conquering the island. By De Morga’s account, Makagubal hatched the murder plot, “swearing to God, in a group of drinking friends, [that] before the sun [rises, he would be] accursed by God [if he] could not behead the leader of the foreigners, who would lord it over us here.” Figueroa was killed downstream of the Mindanao River in what came to be known as the Battle of Tampakan in 1596. His embalmed body was buried in a church he helped build in Manila. De Morga denounced the Moro people and Silongan for the killing. Rizal, however, blamed the Spanish colonial government for Figueroa’s failed military expedition. “The people of Buayan [referred to as ‘Buhahayen’ by De Morga] were attacked [by the foreigners] in their own country,” he wrote. De Morga book He also criticized De Morga for describing the killing as a “treachery of the highest degree.” He pointed out that Governors Francisco de Sande and Dasmariñas, and Figueroa planned and executed the offensive against “the people of Buayan [who] were in their own country.” The Moros neither violated a contract nor breached a ceremony of acceptance, because “the celebrated Silongan never recognized Spain’s authority over his kingdom,” Rizal wrote. He copied, by longhand, De Morga’s book pages in Spanish at London Museum Library for six months in 1889, and published his first edition in Paris in 1890. His more popular writings were “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo.” Documents from the “Trial and Execution of Jose Rizal,” showed that Rizal’s defense of the Maguindanao people, contained in the annotation of De Morga’s “History of the Philippines in 1890,” were among the “subversive activities” that the prosecution presented against him in the Spanish court. Silongan was the forebear of the Mangudadatu clan of Maguindanao. He was the uncle of the Muslim hero, Sultan Muhammad Dipatuan Kudarat, and a grandson of Shariff Kabunsuan, who brought Islam to Central Mindanao in 1447.

Philippines' Duterte tells mining companies to 'shape up'

01:39
Philippine President-elect Rodrigo Duterte warned mining companies to "shape up", as he signaled he would prefer ownership of mining assets to be left to local investors. He also said the incoming government may rewrite rules to limit environmental degradation in the sector. Duterte, who assumes office on June 30, has named nearly all his cabinet members this week but has yet to appoint a new minister that will oversee the Southeast Asian country's mining sector. The country has among the largest untapped mineral resources in the region but years of opposition from the Catholic Church and a strong anti-mining lobby, as well as insurgency and widespread corruption, have stalled many projects including the $5.9 billion gold-copper Tampakan project in the southern Mindanao island discovered in 1991. "I have a big problem with mining companies. They are destroying the soil of our country," Duterte told a crowd of more than 100,000 in Davao celebrating his May 9 election victory. "The mining people must shape up. It has to stop. The spoiling of the land, the destroying of Mindanao." Swiss giant Glencore quit the Tampakan project in 2015, with the venture halted by a ban on open-pit mining in Mindanao's South Cotabato province imposed from 2010. A local company has taken over the project. Duterte signaled that ownership of mining companies may be best be left to locals. "I want it to be a cooperative of all Filipinos. We will support them and give them instructions how not to end up spoiling the land, he said.

Panag-uban 2018

05:22
Panag-uban is a Cebuano term which means partnership, a word that best describes how we envision the Tampakan Copper-Gold Project to be, and how we have been working with our many stakeholders to bring about sustainable communities within and surrounding the Tampakan Project area. This video presents the highlights of our 2017 social performance as reported in the Panag-uban, the magazine. It features SMI’s community development performance for 2017, and how over the years our community development programs and projects, through the efforts of our partners in the tribal communities and local government units, have touched the lives of the people in the community through their inspiring stories. In 2017, SMI invested PhP53 million for various community development programs and projects implemented directly by the company and through our partners. This brings the Project’s total community development fund investment, from the early years of the Project to date, to PhP1.2 billion. Because of this investment and even as we are not yet operating, we are pleased to see encouraging results in the areas of education, community health, enterprise development, and capacity building – results that would last beyond the life of the mining project. Pregnant Blaan woman and two kids massacred during military operation of 27th IB -- Karapatan

00:26
"It was a massacre and not an encounter," said Cristina Palabay, secretary general of Karapatan belying claims of Lt. Col. Alexis Bravo, head of the 27th IB of the Philippine Army that a Blaan woman, Juvy Capion, 27, and her two sons, John , 8, and Pop, 13 were killed in a gunfight. Initial reports that reached the Karapatan national office indicated that on October 17, Juvy Capion, daughter Vicky, 5, and her two sons went to their farm and spent the night in Fayahlob, Sitio Datal-Ayong, Bgy. Danlag, Tampakan, South Cotabato because they did not finish their day's work. The following day, On October 18, at around 6 a.m., the four were still inside the hut when elements of the 27th IB arrived, and sprayed bullets on the hut, killing Juvy Capion and her two sons. Vicky was wounded. "There was no gunfight between the military and Juvy's husband Dagil as the military claimed. This lie is being peddled to justify the killings and exonerate the military officials and personnel from accountability," said Palabay. The military said that Dagil Capion, a B'laan tribal leader, has taken up arms against the Xstrata- Sagittarius Mines, Inc. (SMI). At the time of the incident, Dagil, who is said to be the military's target, was working on their farm. He was also wounded but managed to escape. After the massacre, the bodies of Vicky and her two sons were laid out on the ground and left exposed to the elements for eight hours, until 3 p.m., reportedly to force Dagil to surrender. Later, the soldiers allowed Capion's relatives to bring home the remains. Juvy Capion was a member of Kalgad, an organization of the Blaan tribe that is opposed to the entry of Xstrata-Sagittarius Mines, Inc (SMI) as there are about 30,000 Blaan who will be displaced from their ancestral lands with the entry and operation of Xstrata-SMI. SMI is touted to be the biggest mining investor in the country with U$5.9 billion investment largely in Tampakan, South Cotabato. The SMI is owned by the Australia-based Xstrata Copper, believed to the the fourth largest global copper producer. "We call on Pres. Noynoy Aquino to order the complete pullout of the 27th IB and other paramilitary groups from the Lumad communities. The military and paramilitary forces serve as company guards and they have harassed, threatened and intimidated the Lumad who are opposed to the SMI operation," said Palabay. The 27th IB is based in Tupi, South Cotabato while the paramilitary groups, specifically the Special Armed Auxilliary has a mandate from the Malacañang as they are force multipliers in the protection and security of mining companies such as the SMI. Palabay said that Karapatan is "alarmed with the spate of killings among the indigenous peoples who, naturally and logically, oppose the operation of foreign-owned, large-scale mining corporations, as these operations are in their ancestral lands, depriving them of their source of livelihood, and therefore, their life and desecrating their culture."

Brisk Walking. South Cotabato River. National Irrigation Administration(102211)

07:31
Oct. 22, 2011: Barangay Sto.Nino: While I was walking along this feather road near the large river draining the Mountains of Mt. Matutum and Tampakan areas, I noticed the water supplying the agricultural lands here was still contamination-free of toxins! Immediate, my mind was crowded with gory signs of future Zombies walking the streets of South Cotabato when the water passing through this area will be soaked with chemicals from the Mining sites uphill! The Western Mining Corporation, a giant capitalist from abroad, posing as friendly financier and image transformer of natives, local inhabitants and the whole populace of Mindanao, is consistently flexing their muscles just to dig deep into the mountains sapping its precious resources! We've got here one of the largest find of Gold, Silver, Copper and other precious metals in the whole world ranking next to Africa! The said Mining activities drain their tailings down the slopes coated with impurities and toxic chemicals! Such flow of deadly mixtures of Mercury, Cyanide and other harmful substances directly contaminate the surface water not to mention the seepage which find their way down below the ground. This dirty chemicals later will settle affecting the reserves especially the deep-earth water and source of potable supply for drinking not only the areas of South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat but the whole of Mindanao! All rivers from Tampakan, South Cotabato drain to Buluan Lake and Liguasan Marsh further lacing the path with toxic chemicals to the Rio de Grande de Mindanao! Practically the entire Mindanao area suffers the brunt of unwanted raping of our forest and mountains plus those toxic by-products from the Mines. I'll advise the people to rally behind the 'BAN ON OPEN PIT MINING',where the Sagittarius Mines Inc. or SMI shall operate the largest Find of precious metals in the Philippines, thereby spilling all the impurities down the Rivers thus soiling our water reserves underneath! THIS mine tailings poses health hazards and transforms our nerves and precious organs to look like MONSTERS! Our organs system will be affected by Mercury and other deadly chemicals from the Mining Sites thereby producing DEFECTIVE ORGAN DEVELOPMENT AND CONFIGURATION! Let us be vigilant not to take the bait offered by this Giant Corporation! To avoid, later in life; a place where most of our children will generate offsprings who are Morons, idiots and human-beast because of the damage to the BRAIN where nerves and tissues are sensitive to the detrimental effects of Mercury! The SUPER MONSTER-PRODUCING INDUSTRY (SMI) should STOP their malicious intention and unwanted greed! Monster-Monster go away and never-ever come the next day! Lets hear also comments from my fb friend, Mr. Joma Sison! Thanks!

Slander: a weapon of anti-mining groups

02:52
This was taken during a Sangguiang Bayan Committee Hearing for a mining project in South Cotabato. Posters misrepresenting a mining company in South Cotabato were posted by Hublag Kontra Mina (HUKOM) which caused the company to take legal actions against HUKOM. However, HUKOM described the situation in another way, saying that they were being sued "for exercising freedom of expression". Yellen Zata and Erwin Quiñones of LRC are GREAT LIARS! See this article they gave to CBCP: http://www.cbcpnews.com/?q=node/9702 They even used the Catholic Church to spread their lies!!!

Participatory 3D Modelling (P3DM) for Peoples' Advocacy vis-a-vis Extractive Industries

05:31
This video documents how a participatory 3D model (P3DM) has been effectively used for advocacy purposes in the framework of the Tampakan Copper-Gold Project in South Cotabato, Mindanao, Philippines. In response to the results of an environmental impact assessment produced by consultants hired by the mining company, activists and community members used a P3DM process to harness local expertise to rebut the experts' findings and present the peoples point of view regarding the mining project. Using the 3D model as the medium, a future scenario was added to the current situation: The pit hole, tailing dam and expected stock pile were visualised on the 3D model as if the mining operation would be running at full capacity. The impact of the visualisation was very strong since the public hardly knew which towns and villages would be affected, and was not aware of the actual impacts of the operations which had been minimised by the consultants in their presentation. In response to Merienda Statement of our beloved President Mr. Rudrigo Roa Duterte

06:23
I had kept my mouth shut and live my life away from my past. But now that my family is in controversy. Our beloved President of the Philippines, Mr. Rudrigo Duterte statement towards Tatay Franco during his SONA (State of the Nation Address) , then lets get the fact of who I am, where I came from. I am done with all media blackout. I am done with our code of silence. Let's see the lies and throw some fact behind the president's statement last Feb 08, 2018. My family protected Mt. Diwata.. We are sitting in a billion dollar gold deposit in the Philippines, which has been controlled and protected peacefully against the corruption of the Philippine government and multi billion, multi international capitalist. During that time the former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo organized a bidding to prostituted Mt. Diwata Monkayo Comval Provence natural resources to the foreigners for a low price. We all say NO to that and guess what? The government killed our people like rats. They can't kick a strong community of small scale miners so they poisoned them with gas. We picked up all dead bodies inside the tunnel. I was a sophomore in high school. I remember my dad hand me the radio to contact the base and tell them what happened. Yes, that was true, we lined all our corpse in the middle of the highway. We all stand on the streets against the tank of the army. They run their tanks over the dead bodies of small skill miners! Those bodies were not National People's Army. They were miners. Our president is lying to the Filipino and he was comfortable lying. Wake up!!! The Philippines is rich and the deposit of gold in Mt. Diwata itself can bring billion in our economy. The 729 hectares land has thousand tons of gold deposit thousand of meters below sea level with an estimated value of billions of dollars. Please include the silvers and quarts. Don't forget the beautiful virgin forest and beautiful waterfalls and hot springs in Mt. DIWATA can offer. But they wanted to corrupt Mt. Diwata and for decades, our family brings this community together at its best. The reason why you hate Franco Tito is you can't control him. We all live and die, but "Salus Populi Suprema Lex esto" the welfare of the people will be the supreme law. We know the truth, we dealt death in the daily Mr. PRESIDENT. How many hitman did you guys send to kill him. Do you remember when you approved the assassination of my fathers brothers, his wife, and his brother in law in return of approval for the assassination of Mayor Joel Brillantes of Monkayo? He knows the truth, they work for you. You play it all well. My cousin lost their parents because of you. They trusted you. You know, none of us are afraid to die. I run away and never brag about who I am and still help all my kababayans using my passion for cars, out and away of my family shadows. You can say all you want, but if any, media wants to talk about what the real deal about Mt. Diwata and why the president is having a convulsion, call me, I am done hiding, I am being silent. Let all the truth come out. It's time for everyone to know the truth and its time to give justice to the father, husband, brother and friends who contributed in the bloodbath in Mt DIWATA Philippines. #ayawmiilara #realtalk #getyourfactstraight

About Philippines and downloads here: http://philippinestravelsite.com/about/ About this weeks episode: South Cotabato has become one of the fastest growing provinces in the Philippines and is home to the ethnic group, T’boli. Lake Sebu, on the other hand, has been called “Little Baguio.” It’s nice and cool, and a good place for a breath of fresh, cool air. My trip is a whole lof of fun bonding with relatives.... a home to me... Banga, South Cotabato. Fiesta. Bar-B-Q Walk (Bay Walk) 2nd of 3Parts 3.3.12

02:05
Banga, South Cotabato. Fiesta. Plaza. 1st of 3Parts3.3.12 March 3, 2012 Banga, South Cotabato Mindanao, Philippines Geography: Coming from the town of Surallah or Allah Valley route, its less than One (1) Kilometer from Crossing Kipot taking the right side going interior toward the town proper. Another entry route, a short distance ride off the Main Highway from Koronadal City by turning left several meters after passing Banga River and bridge! High School: Of course, I'm proud of my birth town where our family, from Ormoc Leyte lived as permanent residents after the second world war! From Leyte, Magan family left and abandoned Brgy. Liberty Tampakan due to barren condition which covered with cogon grass and rocky surrounding (Now the Site of the Largest Mine Find in whole Asia) and immediately grabbed the offer as pioneers in Banga, including some real properties in Naci at nearby Surallah Town. I enrolled at Mindanao Community College right beside the town Plaza during my first year high school. We claimed to be the last batch in that building before we transferred venue. Retained the school's name during my second year high school to its present location as pioneer in the area at Purok Ite Inocente. Agriculuture: The present Banga Gymnasium was the location of our Gardening, in Agriculture subject. Under Sir Pedregosa, we were taught how to raise crops; and I used to sell my harvested vegetables ,'cabbage-produce'etc at the public market. The new School's location provided us abundant harvest because we utilized the expanse of land at the back of the new site which is beside the creek. And the vegetable vending continued! I found out later that the school's name was changed to Mindanao Community School when I was already third year at Koronadal National Comprehensive High School where I graduated! Church: Elementary days was spent at my birthplace in Cinco Elementary School. Early '60s when I started attending the Sunday School for kids at Banga Alliance Church (BEC). We woke up early each Sunday. As I recall, my siblings never been late in going to church even though we traveled the dirt-muddy road from Barrio Cinco on a hired (Mr. Hany) tricycle! Later, serviced by family 'owner-typed' jeep! There we met some important characters as Church-goers too:namely Pastor Pagsuguiron, Pastor Absalom Cerveza, Norbing Javellana, Mr. Pajarillo, Mr. Morcillo, Divinagracia Family, Lubaton Family, Manreal Family, Langub Family, Mr.Deminay, Mr. Cordero etc Nostalgia: I LEFT BANGA FOR MARBEL IN 1972; and FOR FORTY (40) YEARS SINCE THEN, THIS IS MY FIRST TIME EVER THAT I WAS ABLE TO SET FOOT THE BANGA TOWN PLAZA ATTENDING THIS KIND OF FESTIVITIES! It's Nostalgia-quenching experience! Sayang hindi ako nakapag 'JAMMING' sa Live Bands which was held two days earlier and yesterday, Friday! Happy Town's Fiesta Kasimanwa nga mga Banganhon! Enjoy your festival! GOD BLESS!

98.1 Radyo Bandera News FM Surallah (2018)

02:08
98.1 Radyo Bandera Surallah is a commercial FM station owned by the Surallah National Agricultural School (SUNAS), and is currently affiliated with Fairwaves Broadcasting Network and Palawan-based Radyo Bandera Network. Studios and transmitter are located at the SUNAS Campus, Dajay, Surallah, South Cotabato. The station was on air since 2012 and was an affiliate of Muews Radio of Sagay Broadcasting Corporation. It originally operated on 96.1 MHz, but had to move to 98.1 a few months later to give way for Brigada News FM Koronadal, operating out of 95.7 MHz. It became a Radyo Bandera affiliate last July 1, 2018, as a response to 88.1 T Radio Surallah's popularity among listeners in the Upper Valley, as well as stiff competition from Brigada News FM Koronadal. The format of the station is Hiligaynon News/Talk/Contemporary MOR/OPM. This is recorded between November 28, 2018 between 7:58pm and 8:25pm in Banga, South Cotabato. NOTE: This station is not receivable at all in Koronadal City due to adjacent-frequency interference with 97.9 Spring Radio Tampakan. Magan Clan 10th Reunion-7.dance number2 (5.1.11) Surallah

01:29
May 1, 2011: The tenth (10th) Grand Reunion of Magan's Family hosted by Surallah chapter under the leadership of Mrs. Esperanza Magan- Sagra. A glimpse of this year's celebration spearheaded by the officers, on their 3rd year and counting, and the same set of officers for next year. The supposed to be 11th Grand Magan's Reunion will be held at Lambuntong Chapter on May 2012. Today's event was composed close to three hundred (300) registered participants, of course not included were those who opted not to sign their names. Top among the chapters that sent their delegates, not to mention their proximity, was the Surallah Chapter numbering more than 80 Magans' blood. This host chapter received the gift and awarded for the most number of delegates. Flashback: The Magans' of South Central Mindanao are mostly the descendants of Juan 'Antoy' Magan of Danao, Cebu. Later Juan Magan's siblings from Danao Cebu (Antonio, Benigno, Fancisco, Diosdada, etc hehe can't memorized them all) settled in Ormoc and nearby towns of Leyte in the Visayas. They temporarily dwelled in the same province and born their children including my father Basilio the son of Benigno. For undisclosed accounts, almost all of them answered the call for the famous 'Land of Promised' post second world war era. They braved the harsh and turbulent seas on board a dilapidated ocean vessel, the remnant of U.S.A.F.F.E military sea craft. Some reached the shores of Davao Gulf, the Port of Cotabato and Makar at Sarangani Bay then combed several parts of Mindanao. Others temporarily settled at Liberty, Tampakan, like my grandfather Benigno, who found the place barren and grows only cogon grass, left the place to venture and became pioneers at the nearby Surallah or Allah Valley. The Liberty Tampakan properties, half-century after their landing in Mindanao, was discovered rich in precious metals and believed to be largest deposits of Gold, Silver, and its by-products, etc..The largest FIND in human history now being slightly derailed and faced serious reduction of output since the government of South Cotabato bans open pit mining. The Western Mining firms nowadays is in peril. Nevertheless most Pioneering Magans' had acquired vast farm land holdings at the sprawling Banga and Surallah areas. This uploader and writer was born in Cinco, Banga, who is still destitute but not a mendicant. hehe hmm faded celebrity hehe
