Oil ETFs: How to Trade Options in USO

14:14
Find out everything that you need to know about the Oil ETF, USO! See more trading videos: http://bit.ly/1tzG9Ju The large moves in Oil (/CL) have provided us with some good trading opportunities. However if you are uncomfortable trading the large futures product, you can use USO instead. USO is the oil ETF that tracks the price of oil. Since the fund can not hold he physical product, they have to continuously roll the futures contracts. This causes a natural drag when the futures market is in Contango (front month futures are more expensive than back month futures). Due to this drag, USO has been underperforming /CL in recent months. Today, Tom Sosnoff and Tony Battista take a look at how closely USO tracks /CL. They find that on average this year for every $1 gain in /CL, USO will move $0.31. The guys also explain how USO is a good trading vehicle but due to the drag, should not be used as a long term buy and hold investment! ======== tastytrade.com ======== Finally a financial network for traders, built by traders. Key Things to Know about Fixed Income ETFs | Fidelity

03:56
Find out more about exchange-traded funds with us at the https://www.fidelity.com/learning-center/investment-products/etf/overview To see more videos from Fidelity Investments, subscribe to: https://www.youtube.com/fidelityinvestments Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/fidelityinvestments Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/fidelity Google+: https://plus.google.com/+fidelity LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/fidelity-investments ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fixed income can be a critical part of nearly every well-diversified portfolio. Used correctly, fixed income can add diversification and a steady source of income to any investor’s portfolio. But how do you choose the right fixed-income ETF? The key to choosing the right fixed-income ETF lies in what it actually holds. U.S. bonds or international bonds? Government securities or corporate debt? Bonds that come due in two years or 20 years? Each decision determines the level of risk you’re taking and the potential return. There are many types of risks to consider with bond investing. Let’s talk more about two in particular: Credit risk and Interest-rate risk. Determining the level of credit risk you want to assume is an important first step when choosing a fixed-income ETF. Do you want an ETF that only holds conservative bonds—like bonds issued by the U.S. Treasury? Or do you want one holding riskier corporate debt? The latter may pay you a higher interest rate, but if the company issuing the bond goes bankrupt, you’ll lose out. ETFs cover the full range of available credit. Look carefully at the credit quality composition of the ETFs underlying holdings, and don’t be lured in by promises of high yields unless you understand the risks. Bonds are funny. Intuitively, you would assume that higher interest rates are good for bondholders, as they can reinvest bond income at higher prevailing interest rates. But rising interest rates may be bad news, at least in the short term. Imagine that the government issues a 10-year bond paying an interest rate of 2%. But shortly thereafter, the U.S. Federal Reserve hikes interest rates. Now, if the government wants to issue a new 10-year bond, it has to pay 3% a year in interest. No one is going to pay the same amount for the 2% bond as the 3% bond; instead, the price of the 2% bond will have to fall to make its yield as attractive as the new, higher-yielding security. That’s how bonds work, like a seesaw: As yields rise, prices fall and vice versa. Another important measure to consider when looking at interest rate risk is duration which helps to approximate the degree of price sensitivity of a bond to changes in interest rates. The longer the duration, the more any change in interest rates will affect your investment. Conversely, the shorter the duration, the less any change in interest rates will affect your investment. Let’s review a few other considerations when looking at fixed income ETFs. First, expense ratios: Because your expected return in a bond ETF is lower than in most stock ETFs, expenses take on extra importance. Generally speaking, the lower the fees, the better. Second, tracking difference: It can be harder to run a bond index fund than an equity fund, so you may see significant variation between the fund’s performance and the index’s returns. Try to seek out funds with low levels of tracking difference, meaning they track their index well. Finally, some bonds can be illiquid. As a result, it’s extra important to look out for bond ETFs with good trading volumes and tight spreads. There are other factors to watch for too, but these are the basics. ETFs can be a great tool for accessing the bond space, but as with anything, it pays to know what you’re buying before you make the leap. How Do You Trade ETFs? | Fidelity

02:53
This video will teach you the basics of trading ETFs. Find out more about exchange-traded funds with us at the https://www.fidelity.com/learning-center/investment-products/etf/overview To see more videos from Fidelity Investments, subscribe to: https://www.youtube.com/fidelityinvestments Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/fidelityinvestments Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/fidelity Google+: https://plus.google.com/+fidelity LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/fidelity-investments ---------------------------------------------------- How do you trade ETFs? It’s a great question. The fact that ETFs trade on an exchange like stocks is one of their biggest selling points. It means you can trade any time the market’s open, rather than waiting until the end of the day like you do with traditional mutual funds. You can also trade an ETF the same way you would trade any stock: You can buy it on margin, if you have that feature in your account. You can even short sell most ETFs. But this liquidity comes with several costs which are important to keep in mind when you’re investing in ETFs. Let’s talk more about two of these costs…The first cost is obvious: the commission. Like with any stock, you have to pay a commission when you buy or sell an ETF. This can really add up if you trade a lot. Imagine, for instance, that each month you invest $1,000 into a basket of five different ETFs. Five times $7.95 per trade is close to 40 dollars, or 4% of your total investment. The good news is that most brokerage firms now offer a certain number of ETFs commission-free. You should consider these carefully, as saving on commissions can be a big deal. The spread is the difference between where someone is willing to buy an ETF (or a stock) at and where someone is willing to sell. For instance, if an ETF is trading at $20/share, you might see that it has an “average spread” of “$0.01.” That means you can buy the ETF for $20.01, but you can only sell it for $20.00. Another ETF might show an average spread of “$0.25,” which means you have to buy the ETF for $20.25, but you can only sell it for $20.00. The smaller the spread, the better. Lastly, it’s smart to use good basic trading practices. In general, you should consider using limit orders which are instructions to buy or sell securities at a specific price or better. But remember, if your limit is set to something unrealistic, or if the market’s moving quickly, you’ll need to monitor and adjust your limits to make sure you get your trade executed and you get the price you want – or better. So let’s review a few key points when it comes to trading ETFs: • Remember commissions. • Look at the spread. • Consider using limit orders. ETFs now make up about a quarter of all the volume on the New York Stock Exchange, so plenty of investors are trading ETFs. With a little care and effort, you can too! Changing Options Strategies When Trading Inverse ETFs - Show #086

19:25
http://optionalpha.com/show86 - Trading inverse ETFs and leveraged ETFs are becoming more and more popular with retail traders. Maybe it’s the appeal of quick profits with 2X and 3X leveraged securities like FAZ (Ultra Bear 3X Financials) but the should we adjust our options strategy for these unique products? I think we should for good reason. In today’s newest podcast I’ll cover the three different ways you should adjust your options strategy when trading these products to take advantage of their mostly negative pricing structure and hedging potential. While we don’t trade these often by any stretch here as part of our income strategy, there are instances where they become useful and we’ll cover that specific setups in the show. Investing For Beginners | Advice On How To Get Started

FREE COURSE To Start Your Online Business: http://projectlifemastery.com/freecourse/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=free-course-promo&utm_term=investing-for-beginners&utm_content=lc-youtube-description In this video, Stefan talks about investing for beginners, and gives advice on how to get started. In particular, he highlights five investment success principles. When Stefan was 18 years old, he read a finance book called, "The Wealthy Barber”, by David Chilton. After reading this book, he realized that the most important thing that he could do was to start investing as soon as possible. The earlier you start investing, the sooner you can make mistakes and learn from them, and you have a higher risk tolerance. Stefan started from nothing, and has been able to build himself up to a millionaire, at 30 years old. Are you ready to invest in your future? Dividend Stocks Vs. Dividend ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds)

15:33
You like dividend checks. However, you are unsure whether you should pursue individual dividend-paying stocks or dividend-focused ETFs (exchange traded funds). Today's video, a response to a subscriber question, compares and contrasts individual dividend growth stocks versus dividend mutual funds (ETFs), through my personal lens. While I cannot answer this question for others, I can share my personal pros and cons when I compare the two, and how I decided to proceed in my personal stock portfolio. Specifically, I cover: * Two specific ETF (exchange traded fund) examples from a major ETF mutual fund family. * Why starting yields may be a bit too low with ETFs. * Why I love the control that individual, dividend stocks offer. (And, their lack of ongoing fees is nice too.) * How one can derive more value (when stocks are "on sale") via individual stocks versus mutual funds (which offer a basket of stocks). This is a critical point. The stock market, in my opinion, is not efficient. By holding individual dividend stocks, I get to buy bargains all the time. * When ETFs and mutual funds may make sense (namely retirement accounts where individual stocks are not an option, or those that have smaller portfolios without the prospect of large-scale growth). * How I hope and dream that everyone watching has a million dollar (or more) dividend stock portfolio, one that pays massive cash flow. Today's video is a bit contrarian, and that's ok. My goal is one of early financial freedom and massive passive income. Since my goals are a bit unconventional, my personal finance strategy has been a bit unconventional too. 💜 The Best Index Funds To Invest In 2019 💜

10:25
💜 Monk's Market Moves: http://bit.ly/MonkMove - Be The First To See All My Stock Trades! 💜 These are the best index funds to invest in the stock market in 2019. These top index fund ETFs are very good for the passive investor. I'll go over why these ETFs are good to invest in, expected returns in the stock market, and the best method to buy these index funds. The most popular and well known index fund is the S&P 500, or the Standard and Poor's 500. This index fund contains 500 American companies such as Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Facebook, and Google. This index fund has an average return of 10% a year in the past 100 years. This means you could become a millionaire if you invested just 300 dollars in this index. This is a very safe stock in the stock market because there are 500 companies in one fund. The stock market can crash, causing a dip of 20 to 60%, but over the long term, it'll likely go back up. You can buy the S&P 500 using the ticker symbol VOO in the stock market. The Nasdaq 100 is a great index fund in the market. It contains 100 technology related companies. This index fund is more volatile since 100 companies is less safe than 500. The Nasdaq 100 is for people who prefer to be invested in technology, while the S&P 500 is for people who want to diversify more. The Nasdaq 100 had higher returns than the S&P 500 over the past 10 years. These are both great index funds to invest in the stock market. Perfect stocks for the passive investor who still want to reach a million dollars.

How to Use Leveraged ETFs

09:08
A set of defined reactions is the best way to use the high volatility of leveraged ETFs for greater profit. Contrary to media warnings, leveraged ETFs beat the market over many time periods even with a simple buy-and-hold approach. A look at my performance tables proves it. We can improve upon their performance by running 2x and 3x leveraged ETFs through defined reactions that extract profit from their higher highs and add capital to their lower lows. ___________________________ Want more information like this? ETF Options Trading

04:11
http://www.options-trading-education.com/7114/etf-options-trading/ ETF Options Trading A common means to trading options on the state of the economy or on a given market sector is ETF options trading. An ETF is an exchange traded fund. These funds give traders a product that accurately tracks collections of stocks as big as the S&P 500 or specific sectors such as energy, oil, pharmaceuticals, and more. The fund buys and sells shares in order to retain its character as an accurate reflection of the value of the index or market sector that it attempts to track. ETFs are common investment and trading vehicles because of their low costs and the ability to trade their shares like stocks. ETF shares are traded on a large scale by so-called authorized participants, large brokers and dealers, under agreements with the ETF distributor. Smaller lots are traded on a secondary market. As with trading common stocks, ETF options trading uses calls and puts to stake out positions during the length of an options contract. Calls on the US Economy in ETF Options Trading If your belief is that the economy will improve and that the stock market in general will go up, you can buy calls in ETF options trading. Pick an ETF that tracks the broader market. Buying a call contract gives the trader the right to purchase the ETF shares in question at the contract price, known as the strike price. He or she can do this throughout the duration of the contract period when trading American style options. When trading European style options the trader can only execute the contract at the end of the contract period. However, in each case when trading ETF options the trader can exit the contract by executing the opposite trade on the same ETF with the same expiration date. If the market and ETF shares go up as anticipated, the trader profits in ETF options trading. At no time in ETF options trading is the buyer of a call contract obligated to purchase and will do so only if conditions warrant. Puts on the Oil Sector If a trader believes that stock prices will fall in tech stocks, pharmaceuticals, banking, or the oil sector he or she can pick an ETF that trades on a collection of stocks in the sector in question. Buying a put gives the trader the right to sell the ETF shares in question at a set price no matter how low that price might fall. This right is good throughout the contract period. As with calls, a trader can exit the contract prior to expiration by executing the opposite trade on the same ETF option with the same expiration date. And, as with calls, the trader is not obligated to sell and will not do so unless it leads to a profit. ETF Options Trading Strategies The same basic options strategies apply to ETF options trading as to trading options on individual stocks, commodity futures contracts, or foreign currencies. It is essential to have a clear idea of the fundamentals that drive the market and an accurate current assessment of market sentiment which tends to drive prices when the market is unsettled. http://youtu.be/KvluwiWQsbA

It's not always easy to take the measure of a market, whether you've been trading for a day or a decade. On this segment we look under the hood—options probabilities, volatility, trading strategies, futures, you name it—so your trading mechanics are built to manage more winners. ======== tastytrade.com ======== tastytrade is a real financial network, producing 8 hours of live programming every weekday, Monday - Friday.
