Chornobyl Dispatch, Pripyat Call: 30 years since the Chornobyl disaster

202 ratings | 22370 views
Ukraine is preparing to mark 30 years since the Chornobyl disaster, the world's worst nuclear accident whose death toll remains a mystery and which continues to jeopardise the local population's health. On December 15, 2000, the last of the Chernobyl reactors was shut down and began to be decommissioned -- a process that is expected to take several decades. There was no rescue plan, so you have to call firestation to get help when nuclearplant exploses. Everything was completely improvised. That was Soviet style: We have got greatest nuclearplants in the world and nothing catastrophic will not happen

Hello, I'm contacting you from a UK TV Company that produces a show where we travel to a country and look at their work in science and engineering. We have recently been to Russia/ Ukraine and it's my job to clear the content of the Chernobyl explosion. I have found this clip on YouTube and would like to know if you own the rights to it? Please let me know asap and comment with a contact email for clearance. Kind regards, Lucy

1986 to today is still deserted and still a scary contaminated place to be, nuclear residue is nothing to mess with

Of course -CERTAIN parts without a rad suit. But you arent allowed to bring any food or drinks in/out and you have to constantly have a Geiger counter. What I can confirm though is you can literally look at the detonation area at the power plant without any sort of thing
A. Powerfulsubzero (5 months ago)
Forrest Johnson actually you can go there without a rad suit because people are trying to contain the radiation as much as they can. There are people constantly working on it.

They wouldn't have listened to god himself even if he wrote in 100% grammatically correct Russian. They ignored their own KGB!
Demond Wilson (1 year ago)
the soviets banned official use of the Ukrainian language as part of their program to destroy Ukrainian culture, this is infact one of the major causes of the disaster, Lyubov Kovalevska sent complaints about the clear safety hazards in the plant but because she wrote in Ukrainian her warnings were ignored.
